With ANZAC Day coming up on the 25th of April, we turned our ANZAC Magnetic Story into a video! This video brings to life the story of the ANZACs and helps tamariki learn why ANZAC Day is a significant part of New Zealand's history. Lest we forget!

This was the landing at Gallipoli, on April 25, 1915, as described by some of the men that lived through it. More than 50,000 Australian troops fought here, and 8000 of them died here too. But Gallipoli was just one small part of a much bigger conflict.


Anzac History - BTN Special (ABC) [16:47 minutes]

This Anzac Special tells the story of the famous battle that took place at Gallipoli on the coast of Turkey in 1915. We find out why the ‘Last Post’ is played at commemoration services and what life was like for soldiers in the trenches during the Great War. The Amien's Gun was one of the weapons Australian soldiers captured from the enemy in WWI. But did you know that weapons weren't the biggest killer at Gallipoli? Australian Light Horse Charge - The Lighthorsemen (1987)

World War I Australian Horsemen fight the Germans and the Turks, ending in a charge at Beersheba.

The Last Post (Royal Australian Air Force) 

Corporal Matthew Creek of the Royal Military College Band plays The Last Post at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra. The Last Post is one of a number of bugle calls in military tradition that mark the phases of the day. In military tradition, the Last Post is the bugle call that signifies the end of the day's activities. It is also sounded at military funerals to indicate that the soldier has gone to his final rest and at commemorative services such as ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day.
