Upcoming Holiday Activities & Events (Booking Required)

The Nutcracker - QLD Ballet | When: 1-20 December | QPAC

Celebrate the most magical and popular of holiday traditions as Queensland Ballet presents The Nutcracker.
The festive favourite returns for its eleventh year to captivate Queensland audiences once again with a dazzling winter wonderland where anything is possible. Fireplaces crackle, snowflakes flutter, and enchanted toys come alive to frolic and play to delight families of all ages this Christmas season.

Share in our magic this Christmas as Queensland Ballet presents its most cherished annual tradition for the whole family.

It’s Christmas Eve and when the clock strikes twelve, nothing is as it seems! Follow Clara and the Nutcracker Prince as they journey across a Lemonade Sea to the Kingdom of Sweets, for a midnight rendezvous of delectable delights and mesmerizing entertainment. Featuring all the character favourites: the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Mouse King, Drosselmeyer, and more, this is ballet magic at its best.

Steeped in history, the original Russian classic version of The Nutcracker was first presented in 1892. Queensland Ballet’s production was choreographed by renowned choreographer Ben Stevenson OBE in 1976, and premiered for Brisbane audiences in 2013 – Artistic Director Li Cunxin’s inaugural year with the company.

A Christmas Carol Musical | When: 8-14 December 2023 | QPAC

This December, the award-winning stage spectacle – Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol – is returning to QPAC! Set to take over QPAC’s iconic Concert Hall in 2023, A Christmas Carol is a magical, grand-in-scale production brimful of song, humour, love, and lashings of festive joy – perfect for the entire family.
Complete with live music, yule-tide carolling, innovative video design, lavish costumes and, of course, snow, A Christmas Carol, is quite simply “the most uplifting theatrical experience you’ll have this year” (The Courier-Mail).
It’s Christmas Eve and Ebenezer Scrooge is counting down the seconds until the silliness of the season passes. Deeply entrenched in his own misery, Scrooge receives a visit from four ghosts who whisk him away on a journey through Christmases past, present and future. Here, he revisits fragments of his life and is faced with a number of choices. Redemption is his for the taking – but is Old Scrooge capable of changing his ways before it’s too late?
