Graphic Novel Starter Kit with Brent Wilson - FREE  | When: 1 & 10 July | Cleveland & Capalaba Libraries

Join Brent Wilson, illustrator of picture books and co-author/illustrator of the graphic novel series Frog, Log and Dave, as he leads you through simple steps of kicking off your own graphic novel.  In this workshop you will gain the skills to develop characters, design the setting and start writing your own graphic novel!

Ages 8-12.

For Teens: Makerspace 3D-printed Jibbitz - FREE | 1 July, 2-4 pm | Cleveland Library
Do you love to create? Visit the Makerspace to explore the amazing tools and tech available for your own creative projects. Customise your clogs or bags with adorable charms that you will decorate and learn how to create using the 3D printers in the Makerspace at Cleveland Library.  This session will also include a Makerspace induction.

All materials provided. Come and see how easy it is to bring your ideas to life in the Makerspace! 
Strictly 12 years and over. Due to safety requirements, children under 12 are not permitted in the Makerspace, even with adult supervision. An adult must accompany 12- to 15-year-olds at all times.

Macramé wall hanging | When: 2 and 8 July, 2-3 pm | Victoria Point & Cleveland Libraries

Get creative these school holidays with our hands-on macramé workshop just for kids! In this fun and relaxing session, children will learn simple knotting techniques to craft their very own star or moon-themed wall hanging.

This activity encourages creativity and fine motor skills plus they can proudly display their skills when they take home a beautiful handmade decoration to hang in their room. All materials provided – just bring your imagination!

 

Children's/ Family Emergency Awareness Training 

This training is designed to actively involve participants in learning crucial first aid and common medical emergency skills.

The approach is both enjoyable and educational, aiming to empower children to confidently handle emergencies and provide parents with peace of mind.

Cost is $20 per child

Beading Workshop | When: 3 and 9 July, 2-3 pm | Capalaba and Victoria Point Libraries

elebrate NAIDOC Week with a fun and meaningful beading workshop designed especially for kids! In this creative hands-on session, children will learn simple beading techniques to create their own bracelet or keyring using the vibrant colours of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags. 

As they craft, kids will also learn about the significance of the colours and symbols, encouraging connection, respect and cultural awareness.

Ages 8-12.

Portrait Art for TEENS - FREE | When: 3 July, 3-4 pm | Capalaba Library

After browsing the portrait exhibition in the library for ideas and inspiration, create your own mixed media art portrait to express your individualism and identity. Learn some art techniques that will help make your piece unique.

Ages 12-17. 

Amazing Art Face Workshop - for TEENS - FREE  | When: 7 July, 2-3.30 pm | Cleveland Library

Ready, set, create! Join us for the Amazing Art Race - a fast-paced, hands-on workshop where you'll race against the clock to complete a series of creative challenges. Work solo and in teams on exciting activities including puppet making, collage art, and 3D tower construction.

Part 1: Cleveland Library - Kick things off at the library, where you’ll make your own puppet and collaborate with others to build the tallest, most imaginative tower.

Part 2: Redland Art Gallery - Then, take a short stroll across the road to the gallery for a guided look at the current exhibition and settle into the space to create a paper collage of your favourite holiday destination, inspired by the artworks around you.

Magic Pete - FREE  | When: 8 July, 10.30am - 12 pm | Cleveland Library

When is a reading class not a reading class? When it’s Pete’s fun-filled Magic of Reading Show! This is the perfect way to get kids EXCITED about reading.

Pete introduces kids to the great characters of book history, from Tom Sawyer to Harry Potter. Kids learn about punctuation in a joke-filled interactive lesson, and Pete literally makes the greatest books ever COME TO LIFE!

Family Pop-up Library with Snake Boss - FREE  | When: 7 July, 9.30 - 10.20 am | Indiscapes, Capalaba

You and your little ones are invited on an adventure of learning with our engaging outdoor sessions in the scenic parks of Redland Coast! 

For this very special pop up library, we will be joined by our friend Julia Baker, Snake Boss. Meet all of Julia's favourite reptiles, find out some very cool facts and enjoy an incredible experience. This is the perfect introduction to the captivating world of reptiles.  

Bring the whole family along to make new friends in this delightful setting at IndigiScapes Environmental Centre.

Day Camp with the Uniting Church | When: Monday, 20 June - Friday, 4 July  | Karingal Scout Camp, Mt. Cotton

Join us for a fun-filled school holiday adventure with Redland Uniting Church! Our 5-day program runs from 8:30am to 4:00pm each day – packed with adventure, creativity, friendship, and heaps of fun! For primary school age children (grades 1 to 6).

Campers, alongside their leaders, will explore the outdoors, try new skills, cook over campfires, tackle challenges, enjoy crafts and games, and dive into Chapel times with Bible stories and activities to discover more about God, themselves, and others — all within a supportive team environment.

Best of all — after a big day of fun and learning, campers head home for a good night's sleep in their own bed!

We're thrilled to be celebrating 49 years of Day Camp fun – making us the longest-running Day Camp in Australia!

Use the power of imagination to create wondrous things with our craft treasure box bursting with inspiring materials. For this school holiday activity geared to ages 6 and up, we have tossed out the instructions! Select any items you'd like from the crazy craft bar, and then fold, colour, glue, thread, draw or whatever. Kids' imaginations are their only limit – we can't wait to see the incredible creations.

Celebrate NAIDOC Week through creativity and storytelling in this hands-on clay workshop for kids! Using air-dried clay, children will be guided to shape and decorate their own artwork that tells a personal or cultural story —whether it’s about family, nature, community or connection to Country.

This workshop encourages self-expression while honouring the rich traditions of First Nations storytelling!

Turkish Mosaic Lamp Workshop

Create a beautiful Turkish mosaic lamp in the heart of Brisbane with the experts from Art Masterclass.
