Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice Theatre Production with Queensland Theatre [Ticketed] | When: 20 February - 9 March 2025 | Playhouse, QPAC

A sumptuous theatrical ode to the mother of romantic comedies

It is a truth universally acknowledged that Pride & Prejudice is one of the greatest romance stories ever written. In the 250th year after her birth, Jane Austen’s timeless tale leaps to the stage in a vibrant retelling with a luminous all-Queensland cast.

Smart, witty and fearless, Elizabeth Bennet is an independent young woman who dearly loves a laugh and is not afraid to poke fun where fun is most definitely warranted. At odds with her husband-hunting sisters and dithery mother, Elizabeth longs for the power to determine her own marital fate.

Amidst the glittering swirl of regency balls, gossip and the hypocrisy of 19th century England, Elizabeth
encounters the arrogant, aloof, but infuriatingly eligible Mr Darcy. The two are more alike than they care to admit. Mindful? Yes. Demure? Debatable. A perfect match? Most ardently!

Penned by Patrick White Award winners Wendy Mocke and Lewis Treston, Austen’s rapier wit and iconic characters burst to life in this exquisite theatrical adaptation of the novel that defined the very genre of romantic comedy.

The Hoarderculturalist [Ticketed] | When: 19-21 December 2024  | Redlands Performance Arts Centre (RPAC)

Step into the enchanting world of The Hoarderculturalist, where Mr. Barley, a quirky and stubborn farmer, invites you on a magical journey through his whimsical garden in this wondrous tale inspired by A Christmas Carol.

Watch as Mr. Barley’s stubbornness to keep his garden’s bounty all to himself leads to hilarious mishaps and a mountain of wasted food. But when his garden starts to wilt, and with a little help from the audience and some unforgettable characters, Mr. Barley discovers the joy of sharing.

It’s an interactive adventure full of fun, laughter, and a heartfelt message about the power of sharing and caring for our environment! Get ready to join in with games, take a stroll through the garden paths (wear your best walking shoes!), and enjoy delicious snacks at the end of the journey. Tasting will be gluten, diary and nut free, includes raw fruit and vegetables.

As the holiday season approaches, take a page from Mr. Barley's journey—just like Scrooge discovered in A Christmas Carol, the true magic of the season lies in generosity and sharing. Don’t miss this heartwarming adventure that will leave you full of cheer!

Extend your family fun and stay to enjoy our spectacular Christmas light and sound show after the performance.

The Hoarderculturalist is supported by Redland Performing Arts Centre and Redland City Council through the PASSAGE Artist Development Program and by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
