Sleeping Beauty - Royal Czech Ballet | When: Wednesday 4 - Thursday 5 October, 7.30 PM
Following their 2022 performances of Swan Lake, the Royal Czech Ballet returns to Australia with their presentation of the classic masterpiece, Sleeping BeautySleeping Beauty follows the story of Princess Aurora. When the bad fairy Carabosse is not invited by the King to the Princess' christening, she casts a spell on the Princess that will mean she will die if pricked by a needle from the age of 16. The King tries to protect his daughter by banning all needles in the Kingdom, however Princess Aurora accidentally pricks her finger on her sixteenth birthday. 100 years later, a handsome prince stumbles upon the Sleeping Beauty, Princess Aurora, where she is awoken from her sleep and witchcraft is defeated. The Royal Czech Ballet’s performances of Swan Lake in 2022 were acclaimed by theatre goers and critics alike and will feature international soloists Natalia Kusch and Nikolay Nazarkevich.

Brisbane Festival: Lightscape | When: 31 August - 8 October
Following extraordinary success in the UK and US, the internationally acclaimed, multi-sensory immersive experience Lightscape comes to Brisbane’s City Botanic Gardens.
This uniquely created immersive experience takes you on a journey of the senses through light, colour and sounds, showcasing the gardens as never seen before. 
Journey beneath glowing tree canopies filled with colour. Stroll alongside larger-than-life flowers and neon roots bursting from the undergrowth and amble through sparkling tunnels of light or under giant poppies suspended high in the night sky. 
These breathtaking lightworks follow a two kilometre path to create an after-dark oasis of botanical brilliance.

Flipside Circus - School Holiday Workshops | When: Thurs 28 & Fri 29 September
Roll Up! Roll Up! Join our circus workshops and have fun, test yourself, and learn a lot of new skills. Whether it’s tackling the trapeze or harnessing the hula-hoop, Flipside Circus’ workshops make school holidays even more fun. No matter what your child’s skill level is, Flipside Circus trainers will help them learn new circus skills and give them a chance to show off.

Harry Potter Afternoon | When: Thursday, 21 September, 2-4 PM
Calling all magical creatures with wondrous wizardry powers. It's time again for our annual, mystical and legendary Harry Potter afternoon at Capalaba Library.
Witches, wizards and Muggles from all around are invited on a magical journey of their own - through enchanting games, magical crafts and bewitching activities.
Dress up in your best and most mystical outfit, and prepare to embark on a magical Harry Potter themed journey....

Brisbane Festival: Erth's Shark Dive | When: 17-29 September 
Ever wanted to dive with sharks but been too afraid? Don’t be!
Come close to the Great White without getting wet at a new shark dive experience, created by world-renowned puppeteers, Erth.  Plunge into the world of sharks and choose your own audio adventure as you dive below the surface and come face-to-face with these majestic creatures. Will your performance soundtrack have you marvel in awe at their serene beauty, or be a high-energy, thrill-filled escapade?  The decision is yours. No diving experience needed, but keep your eyes peeled and your mind open.

Brisbane Festival: Undercover Artist Festival | When: 20-23 September 
Headlining only artists with disability, Undercover Artist Festival will bring the boldest and brightest national and local performing artists to the stage 20 to 23 September at Queensland Theatre. Immerse yourself in unique experiences across comedy, theatre, cabaret, dance, music, poetry and more as our artists take the stage showcasing their power. With 17 performances scheduled across four astonishing days, there's something for everyone at the Undercover Artist Festival 2023.

Brisbane Festival: 10,000 Kazoos | When: 23 September 
Take a deep breath, join as one and release an almighty chorus of kazoos! Come and join the world’s biggest, kazaniest orchestra ever – 10,000 kazoos-strong. Have no musical ability or training? No problem. Simply stick a kazoo in your mouth, with the pointy end at the world, and send some do-do-dos down that tube!  We’ll even supply the kazoo free of charge upon entry!

Street Science Show | When: 27 September, 2 - 2.30 PM
Come along to see an epic display of science and wonder from Street Science! From disappearing water, beautiful liquid nitrogen clouds, through to nappy science and a little splash of magic, you will be glued to your seat cheering for more.
Ages: 8+ years. Free event. Bookings required.
School holiday bookings open 9am Saturday 19 August 2023.
Children 12 years of age and under are to be actively supervised by the parent/carer at all times.

Geckoes Wildlife: Rare, Threatened and unusual wildlife of SEQ | When: Wednesday 20 September, 10-10:45 AM

Geckoes Wildlife will introduce you to some rare wildlife while explaining their status and how we can help their survival. 
South East Queensland has a number of rare and unusual species. Meet some of them, like our smallest and rarest parrot, a Glossy Black Cockatoo, a bettong and some other unusual and obscure marsupials, even Australia’s rarest turtle! Hear their stories and why they are under threat. What can we do to help improve their chances of survival?

Recommended for ages 8 years and above.

Carnival Fun | When: Wednesday, 20 September, 10.30-11.30 AM
Love carnival games? Come to the Victoria Point Library for some fete-tastic fun! We’ll have all your favourite attractions – from tin can alley, giant skittles, ring toss, dominos and more!

Craft Craze | When: Friday, 22 September, 9.30 - 10.30 AM
Use the power of imagination to create wondrous things out of our treasure box of craft materials. With our open-ended craft bar there are no instructions! Fold, colour, glue, thread, draw – what will you make next?

Funky Sand Art Bottles | When: Tuesday, 19 September, 2 - 3 PM
Create a funky bottle artwork with colourful, layered sand in this hands-on tactile art workshop.

Greater Glider storytelling and craft | When: 19 September, 10 - 11:30 AM
The perfect hollow: Explore a world of Greater gliders, quolls, phascogales and owls with author Catherine Storey, surrounded by nature. This educational and entertaining experience for children will let their imaginations soar as they delve into the world of the Greater Glider and express themselves through art. Young children will enjoy 'The Perfect hollow and Snuggled away': A Greater glider storytelling with the author Cate Storey, followed by a choice of related craft activities including wildlife clay painting, drawing and collage using natural and recycled materials.
Suitable for children aged 4 to 8 years. Parents must remain with children under 8 years of age.
Cost: $10 per participant.

Greater Glider storytelling and craft | When: 19 September, 10 - 11:30 AM
Looking for something fun to do during the school holidays and want to have a go with clay? Pinch pots are super fun to make, so join us in our clay studio called the Mud Club for a hand building clay class.  We'll show you how to make your own Clay ANIMAL pot. There are so many different designs you can make and we love Cats and Dogs but what about a COW or an OWL?..... either way we love seeing what our fabulous customers make.
We’ll have to let your creation dry carefully before we fire your piece and once done you can book in again to paint it in our studio (extra $10 fee applies).

$45pp (includes clay, tuition and first firing)
$10 (painting/glazing at a later date if desired)
No artistic skills required. Suitable for children 7 and up and parents/carers/grandparents are more than welcome to join in the fun too. *** Limited seating so bookings are essential ***

A Night at the Museum - Queensland Museum

Be a Scientist! Ignite your imagination in SparkLab, an interactive science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) space, ideal for 6 to 13 year olds!

Play and investigate your way through SparkLab, using many of the same skills that scientists, engineers and mathematicians use everyday.

The Cube (at QUT)

The Cube is one of the world's largest interactive digital display systems. It's two storeys high, has 170m2 of high-definition screens, and includes 48 touch panels.
The space offers new and exciting learning opportunities for school groups, as we can use the responsive display screens to simulate environments, display data and interact with virtual objects. 30-minute interactive experiences include:

State Library of Queensland - Holiday Fun Activities & Events

There’s adventure waiting for you these winter holidays at State Library. Discover an action-packed world full of imagination and exciting possibilities the whole family can enjoy. There will be a range of workshops and free activities for ages 0 to 12 years to entertain and inspire creativity.

Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium 

Brisbane City Council's Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium opened in 1978. Located in the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha, the Planetarium is home to the Cosmic Skydome - a 12.5-metre-diameter projection dome. Visit the Planetarium to enjoy a show (including a tour of Brisbane's night sky), and tour the Display Zone. The Planetarium also includes an observatory, Galaxy Gift Shop and Sundial Courtyard. Clay: Collected Ceramics - Museum of Brisbane

Clay: Collected Ceramics is a celebration of ceramics combining works from Museum of Brisbane’s Collection and Kylie Johnson’s personal collection. It is accompanied by Commune, a display of single pieces contributed by more than 300 makers responding to MoB’s largest community callout to date.
